At the Eisteddfod!

I’ve had such an enjoyable time at the National Eisteddfod in Denbigh this year.

I spent three days on stall 507, possibly the best one on the field, but then I would say that, it was the Time to Change Wales stand, a campaign I feel so passionate about.

Our stall was kitted out with posters, bunting and a pledge wall.  People attending were invited to write a pledge on a postcard to help us end stigma surrounding mental health; but also people were helping by giving their opinions on how to help someone you know affected by mental illness.  Why was this so important?  Mental health problems are common. One in four of us will be affected at some point in our lives.

As well as having support from the people of Wales, we were lucky enough to have the support of everyone from AMs to mascots!

Time after time, the common message was to talk; if we talk about mental health, hopefully it will become less of a taboo subject. Time to Change Wales sums it up in a good hashtag “#endstigma”.

I even decorated a fellow Champion’s nails showing our message – it was a way to get the message out!

We already have our Facebook page Time to Change Wales, but introduced our new Welsh page Amser i Newid Cymru.  Please click like to join the conversation through the medium of Welsh.

I want to thank each and every one of you who popped in to see us, whether you wrote a pledge, had a pink TTCW manicure or even ran in to get a pen.  I hope that you take away with you the message - A few small words can make a big difference. Don’t be afraid to talk about mental health.
