Please note this training takes place over two days:
Monday 19th and Monday 26th of March
10am - 3pm
Time to Change Wales Young Champions are volunteers aged 18-30 with lived experience of mental health problems - either historically or currently. They are at the heart of our campaign, challenging stigma in their own communities, online, in the media, and sharing their story with other young people.
We provide free training and support for potential Young Champions to share their experiences with other young people at schools, universities and youth groups. Champions can also write for our website, get involved with community projects and help out with events.
Those who have volunteered to speak out about their experiences, written a blog or staffed a stand as a Champion have found it helps them build personal resilience and develop greater confidence in managing their health.
The Young Champion training programme looks like this:
Day 1: Our 'Time to Talk' induction day provides you with an overview of the campaign and how you can get involved. You'll get to meet one of our Champions and hear their story too. We'll provide all the resources you may need.
Day 2: If you want to go in to businesses, schools and organisations to tell your story, our second day, 'Time to Tell', will prepare you for this. You'll also receive guidance on writing blogs.
Lunch is provided and all travel expenses reimbursed.
Please note we require all Champions to bring ID (passport or driving licence) with them on the first day of training so they can be verified before training can begin.
