At Create Me Happy, our volunteer community organisation, we use Lego as an engagement tool within families.
We try to raise awareness of the isolated child within parental depression, and how children can suffer when parents struggle with poor mental health.
We use Lego building as a tool to get families working together to achieve a goal but that also gives room for open communication and we encourage chat about feelings and emotions in this time.
Within this we aim to raise a generation of children where stigma does not exist, and only if we engage our children to discus openly can we bring an end to the negative portrayal of such stigma.
Our workshops have been extremely successful and we aim to put on as many as possible in the school holidays, at after school clubs, family centres and charity centres.
